The original goal may have envisioned a few semi truck tractors.
Lately that is what I have been creating most.
Time for their own page.
Even if you are not buying.
Drop me an email to chat trucks.
Give me some suggestions for new models
I have a YouTube page now too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQSj-Dc_ELk
It is pretty boring for now
Hopefully I can share some tips
Answer some questions
Showcase some new models in video format
If the pics do not get you to contact me
I doubt my usual long winded captions
and explanations will help much.
Allow me to begin with one brief bit
This may help you decide if you are ready to embark on building a 3D printed object
I have split the difference between simple to build and simple to paint to arrive at what is simple
Most of these take me a few hours at most. Excluding paint dry time of course.
Typical trucks on the supports fresh out of print now look like this.
NOTE
Conventional tractors will by and large have stacks as a stand alone part you add as you assemble. Post paint. This just makes life simpler.
Cabover tractors will typically have stacks pre-attached to the frame. Not in the way of any significant painting. Easier.
If you can muster removing a 3D printed object fro the support platform. You are in good shape to try this on your own without any help from me. The parts and pieces are logical and if you need to ask where they go feel free to ask. I will clear it up.
Pictures of pretty much everything as a finished sample shoud assist as well. It really is pretty easy.
Paint wise.
If your skills are not master level. No worries.
Single color trucks rock and look good on these models.
I encourage the use of a base primer color but it is not essential.
The resin seems to like both enamel and acrylic paints
I actually use a Testors Laquer primer.
This is becoming impossible to find.
Any paint labeled primer should do if you wish to use primer.
I will be trying to do my first DIY video how I do this.
Stay tuned.
If I can not post it here I will share the link here.
Pricing.
The same $10 per piece still on the print supports applies to tractors as well as trailers.
Ditto for $15 if you prefer I take them off the supports before shipping to you.
PAINTED FOR YOU. READY TO USE
I will try my best to be competitive with pricing for trucks as we have come to accept thinking the most popular N scale trucks right now. Trainworx.
I do not mass produce so this precludes any discounting.
Unless you order a fleet at which point I can do something for you price wise.
Suffice it to say in general terms. Think starting prices are
$40.00 for a simple painted tractor.
$25.00 for a simple painted trailer.
It will only go up from there based on complexity of what you request.
This is NOT an unlimted range like my locomotives.
There is only so much I can do practically speaking with a object this small.
Photos will again give you some ideas.
Shall we have a look at what I have so far.
Updated November 21 st 2020.
SOME OF THE OLDER TRUCKS I CREATED FIRST
MAINLY BUT NOT ENTIRELY FANTASY
THESE TWO ARE MID VERSIONS OF THE MODEL WHICH EVENTUALLY BECOMES A WHITE ROAD BOSS
PICS TO THE RIGHT OF THE PROTOTYPE BASED MODELS
THE STAR. FREIGHT STAR
shown here as full on long haul owner operator style
Look for the pic below showing it in HO scale as well
Here is a long frame day cab version.
It could be shorter if you prefer
Headache Rack optional
.........................................................................................................
Assortment of less fantasy more familar trucks
with or without an air fairing
something for your medium duty jobs
Does your LTL operation need something different?
Pairs nicely with Athearn pups
The weirdo in the pack
Let's call this one Frank(enstein)
Anyone got some luv for this odd duck?
Let's just say I am not quite done tinkering with this one
N scale rear load garbage truck
shown atop a MAC MC tandem axle low cab forward
it could really be applied to anything you like
From the newest to the oldest.
Just peek here at the top to see what is new.
FYI. My trucks are not intended to be prototype exact although some are close than others. I will not use names I am trying to look like. If you don't just know what it is, I did a bad job.
There is a whole subset of tractors that we came up with that are the KINGS. These are just fantasy trucks that may have some familiar character to them but are in fact just my whimsy.
Look to the left column for the KINGS
.........................................................................................................
NO LONGER JUST A KING
IT'S THE BOSS - ROAD BOSS
This has seen a twisting and long path from first tractor model as fantasy all the way.
To a reasonably accurate Road Boss.
The first version is an homage to a trucks I drove in the 1980's
A 1977 White Road Boss for Lowell L Treffert, Racine WI
I chose to model the tractor as it was after I had done some work on it. I just can not for the life of me fnd pictures showing the way the model is. You will have to take my word for it
This follows the detail oddities of the actual truck pretty faithfully. From the single stack in back of the sleeper. The snub nose pointing the way down the road. Mercury sleeper in between for when I got tired and needed a nap.
Long journey finally comes to an end.
No point in wasting this design on one truck. The Road Boss was a reasonably prolific truck in it's heyday. Made so by LTL carriers. Namely Roadway Express. Probably single handedly kept a production line working 3 shifts.
My two versions of this
ONE FINAL VERSION
DID OWNER OPERATORS ACTUALLY BUY THESE?
THE LONG HOOD SUGGESTS IT WAS AIMED AT THEM
I STARED AT THE BUSINESS END OF OF THESE DOGS
THEY ARE AS FAITHFUL AS A TRUCK AS A PET
YET ANOTHER TRUCK I DROVE FOR SEVERAL YEARS
FINISHING UP WITH A SECOND DOG FOR NOW
I NEVER DROVE THIS BUT IT WAS REAL AND LOCAL TO MY HOME TOWN. HRIBAR SAND AND GRAVEL
If anyone has pics of the real truck(s)
Please do share.
I recall vaguely what was on the cab doors.
Hoping to get it right before calling it finished
.........................................................................................................
THIS ONE PROBABLY BELONGS IN THE KING COLUMN
NOT QUITE PROTOTYPE ACCURATE. BUT....
YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS MODELED AFTER
SIMPLY MY TAKE ON IT
WHAT IS AN OWNER OEPRATR TRUCK
IF NOT CUSTOMIZABLE
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE THE TURBO WING AND STEER HORN HOOD ORNAMENT
I AM BRANDING THIS PARTICULAR VERSION
THE LONG HORN
ASK ABOUT OTHER CONFIGURATIONS
LIKE A REAL SEMI TRACTOR.
DEVIATION IS JUST A REQUEST AWAY
LIKE SUCH DAY CABS AND NOT THE SAME TRUCKS
ANOTHER MORE MODERN VERSION IS THIS ONE
SORTA RETRO CUSTOM MAYBE
TOSS ON A CLASSIC SLEEPER
LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST A CABOVER VERSION
MOVING ON TO SOME OTHER INTERNATIONALLY FAMOUS TRUCKS
DROP FRAME VAN IS TRAINWORX
ALL OTHERS ARE MY TRAILERS
CHECK ON THE TRAILER PAGE TO FIND OUT MORE
LEGAL DISCLIAMER
THESE ARE NOT TOYS AND ARE INTENDED FOR ADULTS ABOVE THE AGE OF 16+
